This Compressor Maintenance Course is a one-day course that covers all aspects of compressor maintenance. It is suitable for dive technicians, dive centre staff and diving club members.
Under the HSE’s publication Pressure System Safety Regulations 2000 it is the responsibility of the owner/employer to provide suitable training to ensure the employee is competent to safely fulfil their role.
Scope
This maintenance course is aimed at dive staff, who wish to train as compressor maintenance technicians. It covers the knowledge and practical skills needed to maintain and run compressors.
The course is open to anyone interested in expanding their knowledge, so suitable for a range of technicians, divers and club members.
Aim of the course
At the end of this short course the student will be able to:
- Conduct a compressor room inspection
- Conduct a compressor inspection – including drainage systems
- Complete the daily fill log
- Verify the filter condition (logged hours or auto check)
- Confirm correct cylinder certification before connection
- Connecting cylinders and leash attachment
- The importance of Personal Protection Equipment
- Understand the function of the pressure maintaining valve
- Safely, fill and disconnect a cylinder

COMPRESSOR MAINTENANCE COURSE
Course Outline
Course is based on a workshop format and lasts about 6 to 8 hours. It starts with a short presentation that covers the topics shown below. This is followed by a practical workshop session where compressors are inspected, dismantled and maintained.
